Nason Clear Coat is a topcoat finish that is designed for quick spot paint and panel applications on trucks and automobiles. The clear coat is made to deliver a glossy appearance while offering a quick and easy application for the professional painter. Nason Clear Coats should never be sold or used by those outside of the professional painting industry. Special respiratory equipment must be worn when spraying with Nason Clear Coats, as well as when welding or brazing parts that have been painted with the solution.

Step 1

Mix four parts of Nason Clear Coat solution to one part of Nason Select Activator. This equates to one gallon of clearcoat for every quart of activator used.

Step 2

Apply your Nason Clear Coat only after your chosen base coats have completely dried for the time recommended by the manufacturer. Wear an air purifying respirator mask during paint applications.

Step 3

Apply a single, medium-wet coat of Nason Clear Coat, spraying evenly from left to right, or top to bottom over the target. Do not oversaturate. Allow three to five minutes of flash-off in between each coat. The paint will have a hazy appearance when it is ready for the second coat.

Step 4

Repeat a second medium-wet coat, spraying lightly and evenly across the target.

Step 5

Allow the paint to dry overnight naturally, or you may force dry at temperatures of 140 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes. If force drying, wait three to six hours at 70 degree temperatures before buffing. Wait six to ten hours before buffing if the item has been air dried.

Use a soft damp cloth to remove dust on top of the dried paint. Sand the finished item with very fine, 1500 grit sand paper. This may be followed by a soft polishing pad used at operating speeds of 1700 to 2000 rpm.

  • Flash-off is an evaporative process that occurs to paint solvents in between the application of paint coats.
